The Curtis Middle School PTA has adopted the teachers and staff at Dillard Special Achievement Center. Many times when you see requests for donations for teacher luncheons or other hospitality events, the items requested are to show appreciation for both Curtis MS and Dillard Center teachers and staff. Thank you for your support in volunteering or donating to this special cause.

What is Dillard Center?

Commonly known as the "Dillard Center", their mission is to provide an instructional environment that encourages academic success, appropriate behavior, and a strong foundation in social skills. In 1991 the State of Texas, under Senate Bill I, established mandatory alternative education placements and stated the school must provide instruction in English, History, Math, and Science, along with a course in self discipline. It has been the goal of the Dillard Center to provide all courses possible to allow the student to remain on track until their return to their home campus. Assignments are sent to the Dillard Center by the student's home campus and the Dillard Center teachers assist the students on those assignments. Extra tutoring is provided, if needed.

The Dillard Center also has a Non-Discipline Program for students in crisis situations. Examples of these are seniors in danger of dropping out of school, pregnant students, students returning from rehabilitation centers, and other situations. These students receive instruction through traditional classroom assignments or a self-paced computer based program through the Eagle Academy Program at the Dillard Center. The Eagle Academy Program affords students the opportunity to complete high school courses online.
